Ukulele & Nylon fan Bracing Sitka and Engelmann

Only 1/2" in height this bracing could be used for dulcimers.  Classical fan braces are available in 1/4" to 3/8"  heights.

THeh triangular shape minimizes weight and mass. It can only be kerfed. as the reverse kerf would be TOO fragile. !

Mahogany Kerfing

120" of mahogany Kerfing cut every 1/4" . Resistant to humidity , mahogany was widely used until it got listed on Cites.  The cost has increased. It is denser than both Spanish cedar or Basswood, which is another reason it is desired.  Can be cut to reverse kerf also .
